Have you ever wondered what ‘Food as Fashion’ even is? And how are these terms related to each other? It turns out, foodie trends follow the same trajectory as fashion. Food experts who spend time in high-end restaurants across the country identify categories or techniques that they think are likely to trickle down more accessible restaurants and home kitchens. For example: In Japan, there is a new trend….that a model will be standing next to the restaurant tables and posing while people are eating. Know more about ‘Food as Fashion’ by reading the following sub-topics: What is it, Popularity of fashion foods, Opinions of people, Pros & Cons, worth consuming – conclusion, which will finally lead us to an end.

What is it? Fashion Foods, a cute way to say ‘Food as Fashion,’ but it is an unknown term and it’s quite confusing if you don’t get to the right definition. So, let me explain this term to you. Fashion Foods are a way of claiming that ‘food’ and ‘fashion’ are related to each other. Food is the outfit we wear every day. Basically, people wear the quality and quantity of their food choices within themselves. Though, you can take you clothes off after a long day of work, you’re still stuck with the food and nutrients you ate all day. Excess food quantity is an obvious example- if you eat more, you wear more pounds and they are not so easy to take off.

What is popularity? Popularity is the state or condition of being liked, admired or supported by a majority of people. Fashion Foods were very popular in the year 2015. Britain went mad for spiralizers and smoothies. As you notice, at first these ‘foreign’ foods were only a privilege of the rich, but they soon percolated down, so that all people could afford it. Since, it was affordable by anyone, these delicious and fashionable treats were on everyone’s mind. It started in popularity from the year 2012.

Opinions of people. Opinions are a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Different people have different perspectives or opinions about different things. This topic ‘Food as Fashion’ has many opinions, half have to say they agree ‘You eat what you are’ whereas the other half completely disagree to that phrase. There is enough evidence for people who disagree as Alan Levinovitz writes in a new book, “The Gluten Lie” which explains that it has to do little with what types of food we eat. All we really need to pay attention to is how much we eat. Whereas the believers think that for Entrepreneurs, eating isn’t all about satisfying hunger. So, as few people say “you’re like an athlete” which means you consume lots of protein, fruits, vegetables, carbs, minimal white flour and sugar. So, depending on who you really are, is how you have to eat.

Pros and Cons. Pros and Cons, they mean advantages or disadvantages. As far as the pros are concerned, you are consuming healthy food everyday with an exception of style. You are always coming up with new ideas on how to eat, a completely new style of serving and eating. Cons are many, you are forgetting your old ordinary styles of cooking. Sometimes in the style, we overcook or undercook food…killing some of the nutrients. You are more concerned of the way it look than the way it tastes or how healthy and nutritional it is.

Worth consuming? This also has double sided reviews with half saying that it is completely worth consuming since, it’s a fashionable but healthy and affordable way to consume ordinary and boring food items, which isn’t harmful in any way. Whereas the other half who is not accepting the fact that it is worth consuming. Since, they believe that there should be little to do with fashion and more with nutrition. They believe it should not matter about the food’s looks because after you chew and digest, it has no more of its looks. Spoiling the ‘fashion’ that was ever there in it.

You make your mind, which one do you think is truer? Are these really worth buying? Now, you must be able to connect with me when I say ‘Fashion Foods’! Foodie trends follow the same trajectory as fashion. It’s all about finding the treats for your stomach.
